Guardianship of the estate of a Minor under Wis. Stat. Chapter 54 may be used when a person is under the age of 18. The procedure for appointing a Guardian of the child (guardianship of the person) was moved to Wis. Stat. Chapter 48 and may be handled by the Juvenile court. The Register in Probate will point you in the right direction.
You may come to the Register in Probate Office to purchase a forms packet for a fee or to obtain the forms click here, then select the right procedure and click. It may be necessary to hire an attorney to assist you with this procedure. A Guardian ad Litem must be appointed to represent the best interests of the minor child.
Once you have completed the necessary forms, take them to the Register in Probate Office located in the minor child’s county of residence for filing. A judge will be assigned and a hearing scheduled.
